Why Give?
Letter from Ruth Ribeaucourt, Editor-in-Chief
Over the last year, we’ve watched with heavy hearts as several independent craft and design magazines have closed their doors. Publications like Mollie Makes, Crafts, PomPom Quarterly, and American Craft, shaped a creative culture we all cherish — and their absence is deeply felt.
Independent publishing has always been a delicate balance — creativity and economics, heart and hard work, with more than a sprinkle of madness.
Every issue of FAIRE exists because of my tiny yet unbelievably mighty creative team — editor Kristen Jensen, designer Maggy Villaroel, and operations manager Indie Spisser — and, of course, you: our community of readers who believe that stories of craft and connection matter.
Since 2021, we have had the immense privilege of publishing the stories of 184 creatives, captured through the lenses of more than 90 international photographers.
Your subscriptions, your encouragement, your willingness to share our stories, and your openness to slow down and truly read — all of it keeps FAIRE alive.
For personal reasons, I have had to pause and delay the creation and publication of Issue 14. It was not a decision taken lightly.
I am working behind the scenes to build the precious support we need to enable us to finance Issue 14 - so if you love our stories and what FAIRE stands for, please consider:
Renewing your subscription if it has lapsed. If you’re unsure about your subscription status, you can email me at ruth@fairepress.com
Consider gifting a subscription or one of our great deal bundles to someone who shares your love of craft and slow creativity.
Do you have a creative business or brand? You might consider taking an ad in Issue 14 - we have solutions for all budgets. Or you could sign your creative business up to join the FAIRE Directory
Book a stay at our FAIRE residency in the South of France - all funds go into creating stories in FAIRE magazine and supporting fellowships and exhibitions throughout the year.

Ruth Ribeaucourt
